POSTED: 2:43 pm HST March 7, 2009

(Sports Network) - Edwin Ubiles tallied a game-high 18 points to lead the Siena Saints to a resounding 77-52 win over the Canisius Golden Griffins in the 28th annual Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament at the Times Union Center.

Kenny Hasbrouck tallied 16 points for the top-seeded Saints (24-7), followed by Ryan Rossiter with a double-double consisting of 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Owen Wignot tacked on 10 points off the bench on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting performance.

The ninth-seeded Golden Griffs (11-20) were paced by Elton Frazier and Julius Coles with 13 points apiece, followed by Frank Turner with 12, although he shot just 5-of-14 from the field and was guilty of seven turnovers.

Siena converted 40 percent from the field in the first half, but just 4-of-12 behind the three-point line, yet still posted a 39-27 lead at the break.

In the second half the Saints cruised along by hitting 56 percent from the floor, en route to the lopsided 25-point win.

More than anything, Canisius failed to stay competitive with an ugly 22 turnovers, which Siena converted into 24 points.

The Saints now move on to the semifinals of the tourney on Sunday where they will meet up with fifth-seeded Fairfield for the right to play for the title on Monday night.
