Fullerton, CA -- (Sports Network) - Eric Wise scored 20 points to lift the UC Irvine Anteaters over the Cal State Fullerton Titans by a 65-62 final in Big West Conference action.

Michael Hunter added 16 points for UC Irvine (12-18, 8-8 BWC), which got 11 points from Derrick Strings off the bench.

Aaron Thompson tallied 19 points in defeat for Cal State Fullerton (14-16, 7-9). Josh Akognon and Jacques Streeter both had 13 points for the Titans, who got 10 points from Marcio Lassiter.

UC Irvine shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half and led 31-27 at intermission.

Strong defense enabled the Anteaters to hold on for the win, as they limited the Titans to 36.7 percent field goal efficiency over the final 20 minutes.

Both teams grabbed 34 rebounds in the tilt, and UC Irvine overcame 15 turnovers.
