NCAA Game Summary - Bradley At B-Y-U

(Sports Network) - Jimmer Fredette scored a game-high 25 points to lead the BYU Cougars to a 70-60 win over the Bradley Braves in non-conference play at the Marriott Center.

Fredette converted 6-of-14 shots from the floor for the Cougars (1-0) and 12- of-14 at the free-throw line in the season opener. Also hitting for double digits for the home team were Jonathan Tavernari and Michael Loyd who dropped in 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Braves (0-1) were paced by Chris Roberts who tallied 16 points off the bench, followed by Sam Maniscalco with 15 points and Andrew Warren 13 and six rebounds in the losing effort.

Bradley held an early lead in the opening moments of the first half, but the visitors shot just 27.3 percent from the floor in the frame, en route to a 32-25 deficit at the break.

In the second half the Cougars sealed the victory by knocking down 16-of-22 chances at the free-throw line, on the way to the 10-point decision.

BYU handled the Braves on the glass, 44-32, and forced Bradley into 15 turnovers, which the squad converted into 19 points on the night.
