GAME NOTES: The Nevada Wolf Pack close out the regular season on the road tonight as they do battle with the Boise State Broncos in a Western Athletic Conference battle at Taco Bell Arena. Nevada, which will host the annual WAC Tournament next week in Reno, is second in the league standings entering the weekend at 10-5, the Broncos right behind at 9-6. On Thursday night Nevada, who started out the season rather slow by its standards, tallied an 89-66 win over San Jose State, the team's second straight and fifth win in the last six outings. As for the Broncos, they held on to beat Fresno State on Thursday night with a 79-65 final at home. The victory was the second in a row following a brief three-game slide by the group. Nevada won the first meeting of the season back in the middle of January with a 77-63 triumph at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, which means the all-time series between the programs now numbers 34-20 in favor of the Pack.

Brandon Fields came off the bench to tally a team-best 20 points in just 23 minutes as the Wolf Pack made quick work of visiting San Jose State on Thursday night in a 23-point decision in Reno. Luke Babbitt added 19 points and seven boards, Armon Johnson 12 points, while Malik Cooke logged nine points and a team-best nine rebounds as the squad shot 55.8 percent from the field and outscored the Spartans at the stripe, 29-17. The leader in both scoring and rebounding for the Wolf Pack this season, Babbitt is generating 16.5 points and almost seven and a half rebounds per game. Clearing the glass has become an important element of the Nevada game due to the fact that the team is shooting only 42.7 percent from the floor and a miserable 29.4 percent behind the three-point line through 29 games. Johnson, who is one of the culprits for a weak three-point effort at 23 percent, still manages to pull in 15.2 ppg for the group.

The Broncos went from holding just a four-point advantage at the break after shooting 53.1 percent from the floor to picking up the 14-point win as they elevated their accuracy to 57.1 percent in the second half versus Fresno State two nights ago. Kurt Cunningham, one of the top shooters in the country, made good on 6-of-8 from the field to finish with 15 points, followed by Mark Sanchez with 13 and eight boards. Coming off the bench the team got a lift from Ike Okoye and Jamar Greene with 11 and 10 points, respectively. For a team that is generating 73.2 ppg, the Broncos haven't had that many breakout offensive efforts by any one player this season, which is why Sanchez stands as the leading scorer with his 12.9 ppg. Sanchez is shooting 51.6 percent from the floor and is also the top man on the glass with seven boards per game. Paul Noonan accounts for 10.9 ppg and Cunningham, a staggering 68.8 percent from the floor, checks in with 9.8 ppg.

Needing to finish off the regular season strong, the Broncos could make a serious statement to the rest of the league if they are able to take down Nevada tonight, but it all depends on how well the Pack defends the interior versus BSU.

Predicted Outcome

Boise State 75, Nevada 71
