NCAA Game Summary - Austin Peay At Akron

Akron, OH -- (Sports Network) - Wes Channels scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Austin Peay Governors to an 80-77 win over the Akron Zips in a non- league matchup as part of the Glenn Wilkes Classic at James A. Rhodes Arena. The Governors (1-1) also received 14 points apiece from Tyrone Caldwell and Anthony Campbell, while Duran Roberson checked in with 12 points in 20 minutes off the bench. The Zips (0-1) were paced by Steve McNees who scored 14 points in a losing effort. Anthony Hitchens also got involved, scoring 12 points, followed by Zeke Marshall with 10 points and a team-best 12 rebounds, while Chris McKnight chipped in with 11 points. Akron jumped all over the Governors in the first half, shooting 51.5 percent from the floor to take a 44-32 lead at the break. APSU stormed back in the second stanza, knocking down 17-of-34 shoots from the field, en route to the three-point victory. Foul shooting proved to be the difference in the contest as the Governors outscored the Zips 21-15 at the charity stripe.
