(Sports Network) - Tyler Newbold's jumper on the baseline with less than four seconds remaining in regulation proved to be the game-winner as the Utah State Aggies battled back to capture a 71-70 win over the New Mexico State Aggies in the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament at the Lawlor Events Center.

Gary Wilkinson, the WAC Player of the Year, recorded a team-best 19 points for top-seeded Utah State (29-4), followed by Pooh Williams and Tai Wesley with 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the thrilling victory.

Fifth-seeded New Mexico State (17-15) was paced by Jonathan Gibson with 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting behind the three-point line, followed by Jahmar Young with 15 points and seven assists in the losing effort. Before fouling out Troy Gillenwater tacked on 12 points and seven boards.

Utah State led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but with NMSU converting a sizzling 8-of-11 behind the three-point line and 60.7 percent from the floor overall it was New Mexico State that held a 47-34 advantage at the break.

In the second half USU stormed back by holding the opposition to just 1-of-8 beyond the arc and 33.3 percent from the floor overall as Newbold put Utah State into the title game.

USU, which held New Mexico State without a field goal for the final 1:41 of the contest, will now face off against Nevada in the title game on Saturday.
