    As Hurricane Hector continues to barrel west in the Central Pacific, the storm has weakened with wind speeds are currently at 115mph. Tropical Storm and High Surf Warnings are still in effect on Hawaii Island. Maui is under a high surf advisory. Lanai is under a wind advisory.

    HAWAII - The County of Hawaii is closing absentee walk-in voting sites at the Pahoa and Pahala Community Centers today. Possibly tomorrow, as Hector passes. All other absentee walk-in voting sites will be open as the primary election is this Saturday.

    Island News continue to track the storms in the Eastern Pacific as Hurricane Hector has developed into a category one with sustained winds of 85 MPH. Expected to enter the central pacific by Sunday and develop into a category three 500-600 miles off coast of Hilo, Hawaii by Tuesday.
