    The Hawaii Paroling Authority says Peter Kema, Senior must serve a minimum 18 years of his 20-year prison sentence for killing his then-6-year-old son Peter Boy in 1997. That means the earliest he could get out is April 23, 2034. He's currently housed at Saguaro Correctional Center in Arizona. In a plea deal a judge in July 2017 sentenced Kema for manslaughter and hindering prosecution.  His wife, Jaylin Kema, also pleaded guilty to manslaughter. She is already out on probat...

    Big Island Police are looking for a 5-year-old boy reported missing Tuesday night. He was last seen in the Kainaliu, North Kona area with a gray & white striped long-sleeved shirt and gray sweatpants. He's described as 3'5" tall with shoulder-length, sandy brown hair. If you see him, call Big Island Police at 935-3111.

    Big Island Police and the military are investigating a reported sexual assault at the Hawaii Youth Challenge Academy in Hilo. Department of Defense says the female cadet reported last night a male staff member inappropriately touched her. The cadet's family's been notified. Youth Challenge is a five-and-a-half month residential military-style discipline program for at-risk 16 to 18 year olds.

    Big Island Police identified the officer involved in Sunday's apparent murder-suicide in Mountain View as 50-year-old Christopher Kapua-Allison. Police say he shot his wife, 54-year-old Jolene-Rae Kapua-Allison, in the head then fatally shot himself.  He was an 11-year veteran of the force.  Family members told Island News the couple had been separated since February.
