Trianna Chenee Moss, 20, has been accused of helping two people buy merchandise in Georgia using counterfeit credit cards with real account numbers, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. One of the alleged victims is Sen. Daniel Inouye from Hawaii.

Moss appeared in court for the first time on Monday since she was arrested in February 2010. Moss allegedly helped two people buy $12,000 worth of Wal-Mart gift cards and other merchandise. Counterfeit credit cards were used with real account numbers encoded on the magnetic strip.

Sen. Inouye's spokesman Peter Boylan confirmed the identity theft case. He said the senator was informed about the case in February while on official travel to Maui.

"This incident illustrates that anyone can be targeted by identity thieves at anytime and we must all work hard to safeguard our personal information," said Boylan. "It is also a testament to the effectiveness of our criminal justice system."

Police said Moss worked at a Wal-Mart in Georgia and facilitated the purchases.

Moss faces one count of identity theft and credit card fraud. Police are still looking for another suspect.
