?It's just very sad because my kids love him so much and he loves the kids so much,? said Elisa Ramos.
They are heartbreaking words from Ramos only days after the father of her children was killed in the parking lot at Times Supermarket in Waipahu.
?What made this case difficult is there are only the two defendants who really know what happened,? said Deputy Prosecutor Scott Bell.
But a year and a half later, there was justice for the family of taxi driver Charlys Tang.
?The key to this case was a bus driver who made the observation and called the crime stopper hotline,? said Bell.
A jury convicted 19 year Kilani Derego on Friday.
Jurors believe he and his friend Michael Robles attacked Tang on May 1st 2010, robbing and beating the taxi driver when Tang asked them to pay for the ride.
Derego said a facebook picture shows that he was at a party at Schofield Barracks, but jurors didn't buy that defense.
Then there was the bus driver who identified Derego at the scene.
And Robles, who testified Derego was the one who delivered the fatal blows.
