Hawaii State Civil Defense is asking residents whose property, home, or business was damaged by the severe weather that took place between March 3 and 11, 2012, to report damage to the state.
You are asked to call the state's toll free number: 855-211-7456, extension 654.
The state wants residents to call even if you've already made a damage report to your county or a non-governmental organization.
Organizations have different disaster damage criteria, according to the state. State Civil Defense needs an accurate account of disaster damage to determine whether or not the state meets the criteria for supplemental federal disaster assistance.
As a reminder, reporting damage does not guarantee financial aid for repairs. Photo documentation of damages is recommended.
Telephone calls to the toll free number will be monitored by State Civil Defense staff. If the line is busy or is not picked up, please leave a message including your name, phone number and island so damage assessors can return your call.
