The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is investigating the deaths of two Hawaiian monk seals on the southern coast of Molokai.
An adult male monk seal was found around mid-November. A female monk seal was found a few days ago.
A necropsy revealed the deaths are suspicious. Foul play has not been ruled out.
The state recently passed a law raising a fine for harming Hawaiian monk seals, which are endangered. There are also federal laws against this.
