A Ko Olina man accused of murdering a man execution style is innocent, according to his attorney.
Patrick Deguair Jr., 30, made his first appearance in District Court Monday on related charges.
He is charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping and other offenses in connection with the death of Jermaine Duckworth, 24.
A tourist found Duckworth's body on March 28 at Yokohama Bay.
Deguair kidnapped Duckworth the night before and shot him in the back of the head before dumping his body over a cliff, according to court documents.
"What I know about the victim unfortunately is that he was linked to terrorizing a how bunch of people, and it is a city and a state like Hawaii. When you terrorize a whole bunch of people, they have a bunch of relatives and bunch of friends," attorney Michael Green said.
The most Duckworth was ever convicted for is third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
Deguair is being held on $1 million bail.
