A 42-year old teacher has been charged with 11 counts of 1st degree sexual assault and five counts of 3rd degree sexual assault.
Police said Bryan Lindberg began a sexual relationship with a female student, who was 14-years-old at the time when she attended Hawaii Mission Academy.
According to court documents, Lindberg would drive the high school freshman to school before classes would start in the fall of 2008.
The two then engaged in sexual activities including oral sex by December 2008.
Police say Lindberg and the female student engaged in these activities in his classroom with the doors locked.
The female student, who is now 17-years-old, and her mother are working with police and willing to prosecute this case.
Hawaiian Mission Academy released a statement Friday. It said that Lindberg is a former Hawaiian Mission Academy teacher. His contract ended in 2009.
Hawaiian Mission Academy said when it learned about the allegations, the school promptly reported the matter to both the Honolulu Police Department and Child Welfare Services. The school has had no involvement in the investigations since 2009.
Police arrested Lindberg on Wednesday.
District court Judge Leslie Hiyashi confirmed bail at $200,000.
Lindberg's next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
