Homeowner says lights were stolen, suspect may have intended to break in
Christmas lights are staples of the holiday season. One resident in Papakolea said his were ripped off his house by someone who was trying to do more than ruin the holiday spirit.
Thursday morning at around 2 a.m., all was not calm and all was not bright at Hoku Garza's house. His dog alerted Garza that something was wrong.
"He was on the side of the house staring at the side gate and he was barking uncontrollably," described Garza.
He looked out his bedroom and saw why.
"We were up in that window looking down and he was right here yanking," said Garza.
At that moment the situation grew tense.
"I yelled at him to leave the property, "I called the cops already they are on the way!" And then he mentioned something about a gun," said Garza.
Garza said a group of police officers arrived and chased Shane Caminos down the street and arrested him.
In the morning Garza said he found four areas around the house that he believes Camino's tried to break into.
"We found the screen like this so you can see there was kind of forced entry," showed Garza.
