Chris Medeiros predicted he would be dead by the age of 20.

He died on Thursday at the age of 26.

"I just hurt. I just miss him a lot," said Chanda Avilla.

Avilla said she was looking to the future.

Her child with Chris Medeiros is growing inside her, and they had plans to move away and build a life together, but that life took a drastic turn this week when Medeiros was shot on Wednesday.

"My baby is never going to be able to meet him. We're not going to be able to do what we wanted to do together," she said.

"The hardest thing was confusion. Why?" said Shason Moleta.

Moleta is the mother of Medeiros' nine year old daughter Kana'i and said they learned of the shooting shortly after it happened.

In his final hours she said they gathered at his bedside.

"She was holding his hand and she was hugging him and she was kissing him," she said.
