HONOLULU -

Cheering fans lined up for the opening of Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman's new store at Koko Marina Shopping Center in Hawaii Kai Saturday.

The fans were eager for a chance to get an autograph and take a photo with Chapman and his wife. The popular reality show stars live in Hawaii Kai and decided to bring their gift shop to east Oahu. The shop is called Da Kine Dog House. It sells Dog the Bounty Hunter merchandise, clothing, books, DVDs and other items displaying the Dog's image and personality.

"The neighbors are excited we're here. They said, 'Dog, you're not bringing criminals are you?' I told them no, not that kind of place," Chapman said.

Some nearby merchants said they were excited about the opening of Da Kine Dog House. Patty Schafer runs Island Treasures at the Marina, a gift shop right next door to Dog's new shop. She said Chapman and his wife had been working on their new store personally, and told her they hope it will bring business to the area.

"Tourism is huge here because of Hanauma Bay. Every tourist that goes by could pull in, but now there's a better reason because of Dog. We've been here 11 years and we're thrilled," Schafer said.

The Bounty Hunter's original gift shop was near Chapman's bail bond office downtown. They said it was not the best neighborhood to have tourists poking around.

"So we brought a store a little bit closer to our community. People visiting Hanauma Bay can find their way to our shop easier. Plus, it'll boost the economy for this small shopping center," Beth Chapman said.
