Yasmin Dar joined KITV4 News This Morning team in the spring of 2009 as morning traffic anchor.
Yasmin was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and raised on Oahu. In 2002, she graduated from Aiea High School, where she was the captain of speech and debate. In 2006, she earned a BA in Biology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and later received her Masters in Communications at UHM in 2010. During her masters program, Yasmin was a features reporter and later became the features editor for UHM's college newspaper, Ka Leo O Hawai'i.
The entertainment bug bit Yasmin at a very early age. In the sixth grade, she was a cameraperson and news anchor for Kid Witness News. Her first experience on camera left her with a desire to pursue a career on television. Then she started competing in high school speech and debate competitions, followed by her modeling and acting career, which began in college. Then in 2007, she hosted the television show "Destination: Groove Dance Hawaii" and from 2008-2010 she was a host on KITV's automotive TV magazine "Ohana Road.
"Yasmin's interest in journalism peaked while hosting so she interned at a local news station and fell in love with the live and breaking news action. Those feelings took her back to that day in sixth grade when she realized what her career goal was. In 2010 she began a social media segment called “Social Wire” which gives viewers the latest in tech news. The segment airs every weekday morning on KITV4’s morning news cast. She is thrilled to join the morning team and give the latest real-time traffic reports.
